365 Project #97 Indian Paintbrush!

One of the most beautiful of the Texas wildflowers is Indian Paintbrush (Castelleja). They are rarer than many of the wildflowers and all the more precious because of it.  Their hemi-parasitic nature means they can't be grown on their own, they get much of their nutrition from the roots of other plants.

I found a lovely stand on the roadside today, enjoy!
