365 Project #13 Texas in Winter

Texas in the winter can be very beautiful.  This scene presents itself on my drive out to a client's home in Old Tow, where RR 2214 stops at a lake (but that's another story).  The long rural road always puts me in a peaceful, Zen-like state of mind.  It's quiet, the speed limit is 35 mph and there are fields, cattle and a winery on the way.  That's the Fall Creek Winery and vineyard you see in the background.

The oak trees here are a bit on the small size in comparison to other parts of the country, but that's because they put up with a lot from Texas weather extremes, particularly the heat and dry.  They make up for it in sheer character, you don't go through all that and don't come out rugged and beautiful.
