For a few years now I have been captioning videos for the deaf/hard-of-hearing and English students on a volunteer basis. It's been very rewarding and I like the work. At Amara, the non-profit organization which hosts the software, communities and volunteers, I noticed that they had some paid positions, so I applied.
After making sure I was on-board with their mission statement, I was accepted. Now I get a paid a little for contributing to low-or-no-cost video captioning. It's a good thing.
And I can do some work while I have a cold/flu. Yes, that's my real nose. And yes, it does look remarkably like a tomato.
