365 Project #35 Emergency Gig

On Wednesday night, Don got a call from an old friend, Ken Terry, who's the bass player in the Nathan Colt Young Band.  "Help, our lead guitar is sick and we need you on Saturday night!"  So Don said yes, got a setlist and spent 2 days learning half their songs he may have heard, but had never played before.

The gig was in Lockhart, TX.  Google says it's 2 hours and 2 minutes from our house, but that doesn't count rain, fog and Austin going-home traffic, and then undershooting the exit and getting lost.  Since we were shooting for a 7pm soundcheck and showtime wasn't until 9, we did OK.  We got home about 4:30am and to sleep about 6am.  We slept until we were done sleeping and spent the day just vegetating.  We're old, so we're allowed.

Don says he did a passable job keeping up with them, but they seemed mighty pleased so you know he did a little better than that.  The band has a very professional, polished show and Nathan promises to be a real up-and-comer.  I'm looking forward to hearing a lot from him in the future.  If you love country music and have the opportunity to see him, I'd highly recommend you go.
