365 Project #20 Soy Sauce Walnuts

There are very few processed foods I can eat, so we have to come up with our own versions of snack food.  After pricing Tamari Almonds which I like, I didn't buy them, but Don came up with a version of soy-sauce-flavored nuts that we're very fond of (crazy-mad, to be truthful).  He found that baking walnuts doesn't seem to make them crunchy and 'snacky', but microwaving them does.  Recipe below.

Crunchy Soy Sauce Walnuts

1 cup walnuts
1 Tbl. butter
1 Tbl. Soy Sauce

  1. Microwave 45 seconds on high.
  2. Stir well and microwave another 45 seconds.
  3. Stir in 1 Tbl. Soy Sauce, mix thoroughly.
  4. Microwave 30 seconds.
  5. Stir, microwave another 30 seconds.
  6. Pour into a cool dish, try to wait, it takes a few minutes for them to get crunchy.
